Eagle Eye helps Hospitality POS users ensure access to the government's 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme

Eagle Eye helps Hospitality POS users ensure access to the government's 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme

The rapid development of the ‘Connection at Till’ solution enables venues to ensure they can submit eligible HMRC claims for rebates supporting the hospitality industry after lockdown.

Leading marketing technology company Eagle Eye Solutions is today announcing the development of a new capability to help ensure hospitality Oracle MICROS RES 3700 POS system users access the UK government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ discount voucher scheme next month.

Eagle Eye’s experts recently worked with a client to apply the discounts scheme to its point of sale (POS) system within 24 hours and ensure it can apply the relevant discounts to transactions in a quick and easy way at the POS that will comply with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs' (HMRC) guidance on what sales are eligible for claims. To support the hospitality industry during this time, Eagle Eye is now making the capability it has developed available to other Oracle MICROS RES 3700 POS users for free in time for the scheme's launch on 3rd August.

The capability also means operators can launch the scheme alongside other offers or discounts. Staff using the POS will be prompted to apply other discounts first. This eliminates any requirement for manager intervention to override the POS system’s promotional rules, automatically applying the Eat Out to Help Out discount, which speeds up the sales process as well as ensuring that transactions filed against any subsequent claim can be processed by HMRC. The solution also assures venues can comply with the scheme’s guidelines without the need for any expensive and time-consuming custom POS software development.

"We’re pleased to be able to help by launching this new capability to ensure that every hospitality operator can benefit from the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme," said Al Henderson, Chief Sales Officer, Eagle Eye. "We’re experts at managing promotions and have the ability to easily spin up new capabilities like this. So, we’re making it more widely available because we believe it will help operators running Oracle MICROS RES 3700 POS increase their chances of recovery by assuring access to the relief that the scheme offers as the hospitality industry relaunches after lockdown."

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme was introduced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer earlier this month. It is designed to support the hospitality industry recover from the impact of a national lockdown imposed by the government on 23rd March in response to the global coronavirus pandemic. Although pubs, bars, restaurants, cafés and other hospitality venues were allowed to reopen on 4 July, the scheme encourages consumers to venture out and dine in these types of venues during quieter trading days. It offers each diner 50% off food and non-alcoholic drinks sold for immediate on-premises consumption up to the value of £10 per person, with no minimum spend. The scheme will run Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only throughout the month of August.

Eagle Eye's new POS system, Eat Out to Help Out capability, is available for immediate deployment and free of charge to Oracle MICROS RES 3700 POS system users.
