Eagle Eye Solutions has secured £1.5 million in Series A funding to support the growth of its digital voucher technology and expand its work with retailers.
The investment round was led by former Tesco CEO Sir Terry Leahy alongside retail analysts and investors Bill Currie and Iain McDonald.
The funding will support the expansion of the Eagle Eye team and the continued development of relationships with retailers using its technology.
Supporting the shift to mobile vouchers
Eagle Eye Solutions provides technology that enables retailers to issue, redeem, and track digital vouchers through mobile devices.
For retailers, the ability to validate vouchers securely and in real time is an important part of moving promotions from paper to digital. Eagle Eye's technology enables vouchers to be redeemed through existing chip and PIN infrastructure, reducing the need for major changes to retailers' point-of-sale systems.
The company is already working with brands including Comet, Blockbuster, and Virgin Active.
Sir Terry Leahy joins the Eagle Eye board
As part of the investment, Sir Terry Leahy will join the Eagle Eye Solutions board, bringing extensive experience from his career in the retail sector.
Commenting on the investment, Sir Terry said the retail industry was beginning to recognize the opportunities created by mobile marketing, with mobile coupons becoming an increasingly important part of that shift. He said he looked forward to supporting Eagle Eye as the company developed its position in the market.
Steve Rothwell, CEO of Eagle Eye Solutions, welcomed the investment and the experience the new backers bring to the business.
He said the company was pleased to have the support of investors with significant knowledge of the retail industry as Eagle Eye enters its next stage of growth.
